Dad's Birthday Weekend!

Since it's Dad's birthday on Monday, we decided to celebrate it on Saturday in stead. We went into the city and ate at one of his favorite restaurants, La Goulue, an authentic French bistro. Dad had his steak and frites and I actually ate a big bowl of steamed veggies. It was actually really good! Then it was on to the Central Park Zoo. It was pretty cool, but kinda small. Hopefully, we will get to go to the Bronx Zoo sometime this summer.
The coolest animal at the CPZ was the Red Panda. It was so cute, but seemed like he was really hot.
Check out Dad and I sitting inside a turtle egg!
I loved getting to pet the big black and white cow!
After the Zoo, I was sacked out, so Mom and Dad decided to walk through Central Park and then on to Times Square. They happened upon a street fair that ran all the way down 7th. There were all kinds of street vendors (Mimi and Liz, there were rows and rows of purses and pashminas. You would have LOVED it. Mommy sure did!) After a short subway ride to Max Brenner's for a chocolate fix and banana split latte, it was time to head back home on Metro North. What a fun birthday celebration!

We have walkage!!!

Guess what?....Mom says we can officially say that I am walking now!  I took a few steps on my birthday, but it seemed to be on "accident." Since then I have taken a few steps here and there, but now I am actually walking on purpose and LOVING it, taking anywhere from 3 to 10 steps and even taking my hand off of the the couch every once in a while. Mom tried to get a video of me walking tonight, but wasn't at a really good angle, so this is the best she has for the moment. I am sure there will be more postings to come!

Happy Father's Day!

Dear Daddy,
I know that everyone says that they have the best daddy in the whole world, but little do they know that I really do have the best one. Thank you for reading to me, (especially the one about the about the very lazy ladybug), making me laugh, playing the guitar for me, giving me nice long baths, changing the batteries in all of my toys that run out of steam,  sharing your popsicles with me (and your ice cream when mommy isn't looking), for taking me to church, for keeping mommy happy, and most importantly, for loving me as only you can---just to mention a few! I know that God sent me to you and mommy and I am so happy to be a part of this family. Happy Father's Day, Daddy!
Love, Luke

Craft Time!

My mom is always coming up with new craft ideas to do. (She is always complaining that she is so far behind in her scrapbooking). But, her latest kick has been documenting my hand prints. Today was my first experience with paint and I LOVED getting my hands in it. With dad's help, craft time was a total success. Check out the end result..... (Not bad, considering I am just one year old :)

Playing the Keyboard

Mom gave Dad this key board for his 30th birthday last year, but let's be honest, he never plays it. (I guess that is because he has to do all of that crazy studying). But,..... that means that I get to play with it!  Fun times! Check out my tunes....

Water Baby

Luke's favorite place to be this past weekend was in the pool. He loved splashing and crawling around in the water. He was enjoying every minute until he took a face plant into the dirt, but even that didn't slow him down too much. After a quick rinsing, he was back at it again!

Long weekend in Cape Cod

Our good friends, Stephanie and Jeremy Hill, who have a one year old, Morganne, invited us to go to their parents house on the Cape! So the Hills, Paynes and Metcalfes heading the Cape Cod for the weekend. The weather was perfect and the company was great. The town, Chatham, was just precious and we loved getting to see all of the Cape Cod style homes.
Hanging out in the pool with Dad trying to cool off!
I loved the beach and waves. Even though the water was cold, I wanted to dive right in!

I got to spend all weekend with my best friend Morganne! We loved being in the kiddie pool.

Mom's Lasagna

On Tuesday, Mom made homemade lasagna for dinner. This was her very first time making it from scratch and it sure was yummy. I really liked the meat, sauce and cheese, but I wasn't too sure about the pasta part. Of course, I loved munching on the bread, too!
