Tuesday Randoms...

Last weekend, Mimi and Doc had this safety fence installed, so I can play in the backyard without having to worry so much about the pool. They said the nice thing about it is that it is easily removable and it has a gate!
My new two favorite things....my Thomas the train set and my NEW Elmo backpack! Mom decided it was time for me to get a new "diaper bag" for school and this is the one I picked out. I LOVE wearing it and showing it off to everyone I meet!

Another activity I really enjoy doing is washing my hands. Mom thought at first I just liked to be clean, but now she know that I just like playing in the water. Ha!
Great Grandmother Marion, aka, Mae Mae, brought me over some fresh cantaloupe yesterday morning. It is my favorite thing to have for breakfast (besides pancakes, of course).
See Papaw....the guys have nights out, too! The guys- minus Luke (because it was past his bedtime)- went out to dinner last night for some guy time.

That's all for now, except for this conversation that Luke and I had last night after dinner.... Picture this.... Luke shuts the door to the laundry room and starts knocking on the door and I, of course, am on the other side of the door.

Luke: "Knock, Knock! Knock Knock!"
Me: "Who is it?"
Luke: "Mommy!"

He's still learning the concept of the knock knock game but this totally cracked me up. I think you just had to be there b/c this little snippet doesn't do it justice. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

Scrapbooking Roll!

The past few weeks I have been on a scrapbooking roll.... I have done 48 pages (24 two page layouts). I just do a page here and there while Luke naps or at night after he goes to bed. I am ALMOST caught up. I have 4 events left to do and then I will be caught up. My goal is to get them done before Mother's Day out starts the middle of August. I think I can! I think I can!

The above layout is my most recent one (finished today) and it is my NEW favorite! Everyone I complete becomes my new favorite, but this one REALLY is my favorite. The one's below are just a sampling of some pages I have done lately.

Girl's night out!

The girls left the hubbies and kids at home and went to La Pizzaria for dinner! The pizza was fabulous and it was great to get to hang out with old friends. We must make this at LEAST a monthly tradition!

More Beach Pics

This was a quick and dirty way for me to post a lot more beach pictures. I played around with the Picasa program and the above mosaic is the product. Not bad for just throwing it together. Sorry about the lack of details, but I have a lot of irons in the fire. Some of the highlights from the weekend as pictured above include, watching the sunset from our balcony every night, playing cranium and ticket to ride, Luke saying his first 4 word sentence "Mommy, I jumped in!", eating at Cobalt and getting a necklace made from a pearl found in an oyster, the lazy river and the over sized turtles, and just plain ol' hanging out and horsing around!

Beach Highlights Day 1

We took over 900 pictures during our 5 day long weekend at the beach last weekend, so I will try to keep this short and sweet. This is the overview of Orange Beach, AL where we stayed. Our condo was Caribe...see the 3 extra large buildings toward the upper left corner?....we stayed in the middle building on the 9th floor. Our condo was actually facing the river side.
Getting our groove on listening to music while getting settled and unpacked.
First things first! We stopped by Tacky Jacks for some to-go bush wackers for our first of many shopping trips to Publix.
We divided and conquered and I thought we did pretty good ....we only filled 3 baskets. Ha!
Mmmm.... Kyle made grouper with a puttanesca sauce with a side of risotto for dinner. Successful first day!

"Slide More!"

This was one of the smaller indoor water slides that they had at Caribe, the resort where we stayed in Orange Beach. Luke was able to climb up the slide stairs all by himself and would go down the slide with no fear whatsoever. When he would slide into Jeremy's arms, he would wipe the water out of his eyes and be reaching for the side of the pool saying "Slide More, Slide More." He could have gone down the slide all night long, but after about 20 times WE were the ones that were worn out.

Beach Weekend Preview

We had a wonderfully relaxing time with the Murphy clan this weekend at the beach complete with a lazy river, sand in our toes, fabulous homemade fish dinners, sunsets (no sun rises, lol, I mean we ARE talking about the Murphys), oversized turtles, kiddie pool, water slides, playing games, and just plain ole hanging out with the fam. Hopefully, this "preview" will tide people over until I have time to post more!

No More BOOT!!!

Luke got a glowing report from the doctor yesterday and he said that Luke's leg is completely healed! Yea!....No more walking cast/boot! I haven't been the best photographer of his leg, but I am so happy it is gone! He had totally adjusted to wearing it, but b/c it was a little bit higher than his shoe, he had to walk with his foot turned out (see how he is holding his right leg cocked out to the side in the picture above). Since he is now trying to re-adjust to NOT having the boot, he has a little bit of a limp. Thankfully the doctor said his walk should be back to normal in a few weeks and today he is already walking better.

"Ahhh...it's so nice to be able to stretch my legs out again!!!"

Dinner with friends!

Last Saturday night, we got to go out to dinner with some of my oldest friends, Elizabeth and Mary Michael (MMGK), and their husbands, Charles and BT. It was great to have a night out with just adults (Luke stayed at home with Mimi) even nicer to get to catch up! MMGK and BT are expecting a baby boy in the fall, so we got to talk about baby stuff and plan her baby shower. It is going to be so much fun! We MUST get together again soon!

Lots of Laughter!

Life is one big adventure for this rambunctious little 2 year old toddler and our life with him is filled with laughter. It is so much fun to see the world through his unfiltered eyes. He is always so curious about everything and is totally go with the flow. He especially thought the crazy hissing white goose behind his right shoulder was funny, even though his daddy and I thought he was a little scary. Find joy in the journey!

Learning my Letters

Aside from all of the splashing and water fun of bath time, I also love bath time b/c I get to play with my letters. I love searching for letters, naming the letters, making the letter sounds, and making up my own words. Mom was totally amazed at how many letters I named off for her tonight! It must be from watching my favorite show---Word World (pronounced whuhd whuhld)! If you haven't seen it, you simply MUST dvr it and let me know what you think.

"Pee Pee Potty!"

Last night, I pee'd in the big boy potty!!! I have been asking to go to the potty at almost every diaper change for a few weeks now, but all I had ever done was sit on the potty and immediately say "all done" even though nothing happened. Mom and Dad happily sat me down at each and every request. Well, last night I asked to "potty" and after a few seconds, I actually PEE PEE'D! I was so proud of myself and mom and dad were cheering me on. I went straight down stairs to tell mimi and doc and then had to call mamaw and papaw and told them "pee pee potty!"  Mom and Dad are going to buy me my very own potty tomorrow since this potty is a little too big for me! Wish me luck!!!

07.08.09 @ 10:11:12am

This is what Luke and I were doing today: 07.08.09 @ 10:11:12 in the morning.....watching his birthday videos. His favorite one is the one where he is watching the trains go by with his good buddy Connor. Thanks to the Russell's for sending us the videos they had taken at the party. They have given us hours of entertainment. I don't know what it is, but Luke LOVES to watch himself on video.

July 4th Weekend!

Friday night we went to a Sunday School fellowship at our Pastor's house. There were tons of kids to play with, but my favorite thing was hands down---the watermelon.
I kept a tight grip on dad during the fireworks. The Pastor put on quite a show.
The theme of the weekend was the pool! We spent all day Friday and Saturday hanging out in the pool. I am getting pretty brave in the pool and it's starting to make Mommy and Mimi a little nervous. Can we say swimming lessons, please?
Saturday night Daddy went to Uncle Kyle's to play cards with the guys, so Mimi, Mom, Aunt Liz and I went to the Country Club to watch fireworks. When we were driving to the Club, we were talking about seeing the "pop pops", as I call them, and I kept saying "Pop Pops, Oh NO!" I guess I remembered how loud they were last night. Since these were further away, they weren't as loud and I enjoyed them much better. I would say "Wow" after the really big ones and if there was a little lull in the action, I would make the sign and say "More, More!"
No July the 4th would be complete without playing with sparklers.... so after I went to bed, Mom and Aunt Liz got to play. Doc said they looked like they were 7 years old again playing with sparklers in the yard! What a nice relaxing July 4th weekend!
