So THIS is what happens during Daddy Day Care these days.....

While the girls were throwing a baby shower for one of Aunt Liz's high school friends eating little tea sandwiches and petit fours and ooo-ing and ah-ing over cute little baby girl things......
......Uncle Kyle and daddy took me to my first meal at Hooters. There were cheese fries, hot dogs, and, of course, wings!

Yes, Mommy, we REALLY only come here for the food!

The afternoon ended with some quality time with Reggie, Liz and Kyle's dog. I love this crazy dog and how he plays fetch with the frisbee!

Capturing the Moments!!!

Yea for me! I had a few extra minutes this afternoon and actually did something on my LONG to do list of 2010---To become more proficient in Photoshop.

I saw that last week Ali Edwards had done a week long "tutorial" on Digital Scrapbooking. I got Photoshop elements from my Mom for my birthday (back in August, no less!) and after trying very unsuccessfully to so things on it, I officially said "I QUIT!" It was too hard and too confusing and I COULDN'T do ANYthing I wanted. Well, I today I decided that a LOT of people use it, so it can't be THAT hard. I watched a few videos and took a few, ok, a BUNCH of notes and Look what I did....

May not look like a lot to you, but I successfully downloaded AND added a brush to this picture AND was able to save AND find it AND get it on the blog! I know this is just the tip of the iceberg of what Photoshop can do, but this little thing opens up a whole new world to my pictures and my scrapbooking! I am SO excited! Oh, and enjoy the picture, too, of course!

The sun is back!!!

After yesterdays rain and cloudy day, I sure am glad the sun is back! I had a blast this afternoon playing outside, even if it was a little breezy today!
Ahhh....there's nothing like soaking up some rays after a round of golf in the back yard! Can this day get ANY better?!?!

Fun filled Weekend!

FRIDAY: $50 Christmas gift card to Dillards from Mamaw and Papaw for National Championship t-shirts + $15 gift card to Disney store thanks to Disney Visa reward points for Buzz light year and Woody characters (since Toy Story is now Luke's favorite movie to watch) + $45 Christmas gift cards to Outback from Grandmother Marion = fun filled and FREE date night with my two favorite boys!
SATURDAY: We started the day out with lunch with the Garvers and the Kelleys at the Dew Drop where I got to spend some time with baby Thomas. When Luke woke up on Saturday I asked him what he wanted to do and he said "See baby Thomas!" I wasn't sure what he expected since there is a train named Thomas, but he seemed to like him just fine. Luke enjoyed playing with some of Thomas' toys and enjoyed his "pink" hot dog!

Later that day we got to go out to dinner with Elizabeth, Charles, Mary Michael, and BT for an adult dinner at La Pizzaria. It was great to get to catch up and enjoy some grown up conversation.
SUNDAY: Sorry there's no picture, but wanted to mention that Coach Bobby Bowden was the guest speaker at our church on Sunday. He was such a funny guy and had a wonderful testimony. It was a great way to end such a great weekend!

Baby, it's COLD outside!

This past week, it has been extremely and unusually cold in the deep south. The lows have been in the teens and 20's for over a week and I have the dry and cracked hands to prove it. Because of this cold snap, some thing happened for the first time ever....Mimi and Doc's pool froze over!
Of course, the boys had to go out and play with the ice and try to break through the thickest parts. They had fun breaking off chunks of ice and then throwing it on the ice to watch it shatter. Boys will be boys! The thickest pieces of ice they found were almost an inch thick!
Too bad it wasn't thick enough for us to walk on, but Mimi thought it would be fun to sling Oscar on the ice so that he could "walk on water." He didn't appreciate it that much, but did it anyway.
Thankfully, 60 degree weather is on it's way!

My Bear Bear!

Not much is going on here.... it is just business as usual as things slowly get back to normal after the holidays. Nothing really "new" to blog about either, especially since I am lamenting the fact that Liz, Kyle, Mimi, and Doc are living it up in Pasadena for the National Championship game this coming Thursday.

So as I try to pass the time this afternoon trying to decide what to do between loads of laundry and while Luke naps....should I?.... do something productive like scrapbook the pages from Thanksgiving or Christmas or the SEC championship.... or do something non-productive like watch some of my shows recorded on DVR or do something semi-productive like write a quick blog post....

You guessed it the blogging won out!

Luke's "lovie" of choice since he was 6 months old has been the above bear on the left lovingly named "Bear Bear." He goes almost everywhere with Luke and is a MUST have at nap time AND when he goes to sleep at night. As you can see he has had MUCH LOVE over the past 2+ years. Mimi bought this bear way before Luke was born from a store in Mobile called Parisians. At the time, it wasn't a big deal because we didn't know that this particular bear would be THE CHOSEN favorite bear.

When we realized that this was THE bear and that this bear might not make it for the long haul (as you can see his coat is shabby and he has lost an eye along the way), I told Mimi we may need a back up just in case this Bear Bear needed to retire. But, alas, it was too late.... the Parisians store had closed. OH NO! What to do??? I had just about given up hope and succumbed to the fact that we would just have to keep Bear Bear until he disintegrated in Luke's arms, but Mimi, being quite the savvy shopper, when on a cyber search and FOUND a NEW Bear Bear EXACTLY like the old one!

The bear on the right is what Bear Bear used to look like with his shiny coat, all body parts in check, and even the black Parisian ribbon around his neck. We have yet to "retire" the first Bear Bear, but at least we now have a back up in case something happens to the old one. Moral of the story: As soon as you figure out what "security item" a little one chooses, buy a few back ups just in case something happens, that is unless the store has closed! :) OR just google it b/c you can find ANYTHING on the internet!

Funny Guy!

Yesterday to top off the long weekend with Daddy, we had a fun filled day full of Luke's favorite things! He wanted to "take" Daddy to the park and we told him on Friday night that we would. Little did we know it would be freezing outside on Saturday morning. It was a balmy 37 degrees when we headed out at around 11am. Thanks to Grandmother Marion we had some nifty gloves to keep Luke's hands warm.
Luke had the best time and he kept running from slide to riding toy to the climbing mountain saying "THIS SO MUCH FUN!" I love it when he says this all on his own. He says this when Doc throws him up in the air or when he turns in circles to make himself dizzy or when he plays with his cousins. Every time he says it, it warms my heart. He is such a happy child!
He also went down the slide and said "I do this a MILLION times, Mommy!" and boy did he try!
After the park, we went to Luke's FAVORITE restaurant, Chick Fil A! The day just kept getting better and better.... He always gets chocolate milk with his kids meal and as soon as I brought the tray to the table, he saw it. I handed it to him and he took it and brought it up to his face like he was giving it a hug and said to it under his breath just barely audible in a faint whisper as lovingly as he possibly could "I love you." As soon as he said it, I almost died laughing. It was hilarious.
We ended the day at the mall with one last ride on the train before it is packed up until next Christmas and a ride on the carousel. Then it was time to head home for nap time where he slept for over 2.5 hours. What a great Saturday!

Goodbye 2009...Hello 2010!

Happy New Year!!!
