2nd Birthday Preparations!

First thing this morning, Daddy and I got a much needed haircut!
Mommy made me birthday pancakes when we got home! I have 2 candles now!!!
Next I got to open up all of my presents from Mom and Dad. I got some really cool things, including tickets to a Yankees game, an overnight vacation at Sesame Place, a v-tech reader with 3 games, a cabbage patch doll named Hayward, World Word blocks , and some instruments! My favorite ones were the harmonica and the guitar. Now I can play just like Daddy :)
After I opened up Mommy and Daddy's gifts, I got to open up some packages that family had sent. GM sent me some shorts and a shirt and the package from Mamaw and Papaw and Christy was loaded with tons of more clothes. I had to put on my new sandals as soon as I saw them :) Mommy is especially happy that now I have some summer clothes! Tank You everyone for my gifts :)
After presents, Mom and Dad were working on a special surprise for my cake. I think it is looking a little bit like a BUS, but I guess I will have to wait until my party at the park. It looks like the weather is going to hold out! We are keeping our fingers crossed!

Flashback Friday!

(I have seen flashback Fridays on other people's blogs, so I decided to do one and we will see if I can keep up with it! :)  This was our baby boy just one year ago..... I can't believe tomorrow he will be 2!!!
Last year: no walking- he was still only crawling and cruising, 4 teeth, no words.
This year: running and attempting to jump- he literally is in constant motion, 16 teeth, talking in 2-3 word sentences!

What a difference a year makes :)

SURPRISE!

Annie and Steph are queen's of surprise parties and never miss a chance to celebrate and boy did they GET us today! We have been planning a "girls" day for weeks now and the Dad's were going to babysit at the Hill's for a Mom's Day out or so Jeremy and I thought! We had said be at the Hill's at 1:30pm and Jeremy, Luke and I were running late as always! When we got underway (Brewster is about a 40 minute drive), I texted Annie and Steph to tell them that we were running late. She first said they were at brunch and it was going to be past lunchtime when we got there, so we were going to pick up a snack at the Red Rooster (a drive in with the BEST burgers and milkshakes). I get another text when we get there from Annie asking where we were and I told her we were there and were going to get a snack. She said NO, don't eat they were eating NOW but could be pick up a 6 pack. In the mean time, Jeremy was getting huffy and downright aggravated b/c I "should have known what was going on today." All I was thinking was get me to the nail place for some girl time.... We finally get to the Hill's and I storm in with Luke and I walked around the corner and see a HUGE pile of people holding up camera's and they all yell "SURPRISE! It's your going away party! and BTW, we aren't getting our nails done." Now, I don't wear open toed shoes if my toe nails are not done, but what did I do today b/c I just KNEW we were going to get our nails done...I wore flip flops with the worst looking toenails EVER! But the surprise party totally made up for it :)  The funniest part was when Luke came around the corner, he was totally "surprised", well, actually scared to death and ran out of the room crying. Jeremy finally moseyed in and got his "surprise" and then felt bad about being crabby all day b/c "I didn't KNOW what was going on."  After a rocky start to the morning,  we were TOTALLY surprised and happy to spend the afternoon with such great friends!!!
Luke and Morganne spent hours playing on the Hill's screened in back porch! They had fun riding/pushing the bus, riding the motorized 4 wheeler and see sawing!

Annie and Steph made us the sweetest scrapbook of all of our four years together and they both wrote us the sweetest cards. I totally cried like a baby. The Hill's and the Metcalfe's have been like family to us during these for years in New York. We are going to miss them terribly---more than words can express!
Luke and Morganne have always been best buds and loved it under the sink where they could shut the doors, push them open, and yell "SURPRISE!"
Another attempt at the 4 kid photo shoot and despite this one picture, Luke was the problem child today..... He was NOT in a photo shoot mood.
Another project for today was opening up the pool. After a while of siphoning the water and then a while of bailing out the water with buckets, the tarp came off!....Check out the women and children "supervising" the boys.
Thanks to everyone for making it SUCH a nice party! I want to give a special shout out to Dave's parents for driving all the way from Maine to be there and also for Jackie making the trip! To the Hill's and Metcalfe's: you all are such special people and I am so happy that we got to be such great friends. I know you all were put in our lives for a reason and I want to keep in touch! And we WILL see you after we leave.....it will just be a little longer drive ;)

NYC with GJ+GB: Day 2

Hanging out on the terrace of our room. Mimi and Doc so generously let us have the mini-suite with the terrace, so we could have a place to hang out after little man went to bed. It was so much fun and we thoroughly enjoyed it!

We had a private tour 4 hour tour that took us to all of the NYC highlights. It was great because it was a little rainy Saturday morning. We walked a few blocks in Time Square while GB stayed in the van. They had the street blocked off so we were literally walking down Broadway.

At about 1pm, it was time for a lunch break and our tour guide, Marshall, suggested Joe's pizza. It was almost as good as Grimaldi's, but not quite :)  There is nothing better than eating a slice on the streets of NYC!

While we were on the tour, we just so happened to pass by the original Magnolia Bakery and we just HAD to stop. It was self serve and Mimi and I had a blast choosing all different kinds! We saved them for later....

Mmmm....I LOVE these cupcakes!
After the tour and a quick cupcake break at the hotel, it was time for more exploring. We headed straight for Rockefeller Center and on to Central Park....
No trip to NYC is complete without buying a whole stash of $5 pashminas!!! Mimi and I also got side tracked by some $5 jewelry!
Ah, there's nothing like a nice rest in Central Park and what did we do?....played on our i-phones. We have to stay current with facebook ;)
"Now if I could just figure out how to get past this last rock!..."

On our way to our favorite Italian spot, Bottega Del Vino, I spotted a street fair and Mimi and I just HAD to stop....what sane person can resist $2 jewelry, $5 sunglasses, and knock off designer purses!!! Needless to say, we spent WAY too much time shopping and the rest of our group heading to the restaurant to get the table. I LOVE street fairs!
Another wonderful weekend in the city!  Thanks again, Mimi and Doc, for treating us to such a great time! This was us hanging out in the room looking over all of the days purchases!  I can't believe the weekend has flown by so quickly! FUN TIMES!!!

NYC with GJ+GB: Day 1

After the quick train ride by the Hudson River from Irvington, we were in Grand Central!
We headed straight to the NYC waterway for a boat ride around Manhattan. It was a little overcast with a slight breeze, but at least the rain held off. After a few minutes, Lukie crawled into my lap and went right to sleep. I love it when he is cuddly.
Great Granddaddy Jack and the Statue of Liberty...priceless.
MMM....eating cotton candy after dinner at the four seasons. I loved it so much, I was shoving it in hand over fist.
After dinner, Mom went with Mimi, Doc, GB and GJ to the show, Wicked, while Dad and I went back to the Waldorf to watch B-ball! I enjoyed that as much as everyone else enjoyed the play!
